Pit Bull Attack

A Marine family in Onslow County lost their 3-year-old son in a pit bull attack Wednesday evening. The boy was transported from base housing, Tarawa Terrace I, to Onslow Memorial Hospital Wednesday due to injuries sustained from the pit bull. The victim was pronounced dead at Onslow Memorial Hospital at 5:08 p.m. The pit bull was apprehended and is currently being held at the Camp Lejeune kennel. This incident is under investigation and further details will be provided when available.

Major Company Coming To GTP

.A major aviation company is headed to Kinston and the Global TransPark, bringing with it 1,030 new jobs. Wednesday morning, Spirit Aerosystems announced its plan to invest about $570 million in the GTP. Gov. Mike Easley was there for the big announcement. The new jobs will have an average annual salary of around $48,000. Lenoir County alone has given more than $16 million in incentives to the company to entice it to the GTP, and the state is also throwing in incentives of its own.
